We’ve entered that silly part of the winter calendar when brain cells start vibrating in loopy patterns. Yep, the US National Toboggan Championships are coming our way.

Last weekend, the raiders snuck into the harbor to the tune of a bagpipe.

And launched their attack on land.

But the Red Coats were ready.

And swiftly shot their cannons, while the onlookers took their own shots.

But the pirates had local support from various points in the harbor. (As well as support among the crowd.)

Casualities were few. Even those caught in the crossfire enjoyed the rest of the day.

National Toboggan Championships - - Camden

So what if Florida has the Super Bowl! We have  our own national sports spectacle – - The National Toboggan Championships, held at the Camden Snow Bowl, February 5-7, 2010!

National Toboggan Championships - - Camden.

A mix between Carnival or Mardi Gras, and the Winter Olympics, this event is an example of what happens in Maine when the temperatures get lower and the days get shorter. Winter alters our brain cells and fun breaks out.
