Fading fall.

Fall folliage, Maine.

The peak of the fall foliage is fading, but we loved every single moment. For some reason, perhaps the wet summer, the spectacle was a bit less stunning this year — a bit more brown, a bit less color.

Maine sizzles.

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

The weather has been spectacularly warm and sunny. The deep autumn shadows really punch up the fiery colors against the deep blue sky. And the streets, shops, restaurants and beaches have been bursting with all of us soaking up this fleeting beauty. Soon we will have to let it go and get out the rakes. But right now — Wow!

The distinctive aspect in Maine is that the dark green evergreens make the hot colors of the soft woods pop. Will try to get some better photos that show this.
