Everyone seems to flock to Asticou in the spring to see the color of the azeleas.

But gee whiz, fall is spectacular. Martha Stewart thinks so too. She has some nice descriptions of individual specimens on her blog.

This is prime time for fall color in Maine.

What makes Maine especially beautiful in the fall is the way the deep green conifers contrast with the blazing hard woods.

So jump in the car and drive around this gorgeous state.

Even those who can’t drive get to enjoy the colors. Lucky Adams School students in Castine get to look at this stunning tree.

And the students at the Drinkwater School in Northport have this background for their playground activities.

The peak of the fall foliage is fading, but we loved every single moment. For some reason, perhaps the wet summer, the spectacle was a bit less stunning this year — a bit more brown, a bit less color.
