Merry Christmas from Maine to our heroes.

For larger images, go here.

In 1992 Morrill Worcester got the idea to donate 5,000 leftover wreaths from his Worcester Wreath Company in Maine to Arlington National Cemetery. He trucked them himself and placed them on the graves. Here’s his story on Fox News.

Wreaths Across America, which started in Maine, are placed at a national cemetery in Houston. TX.

Morrill’s wonderful idea has grown to be an annual event taken over by the not-for-profit Wreaths Across America, with over 100,000 wreaths placed last year at Arlington and over 400 other State, National and local cemeteries, honoring the sacrifices made by our veterans.

Texas has been experiencing a long drought which makes the laying of the green wreaths even more poignant.

Thank you Morrill Worcester! You’re a hero as well.

Wishing everyone all the joys and happiness this season brings!

Or as Mike Crosson heard on the radio — “During this holy season, I wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Merry Festivus, Happy Kwaanza, and for all you atheists – have a nice day.”

In the spirit yet?
