Lady’s Mantle, or Alchemilla, has often been thought to have magical and medicinal powers. One is that the droplets captured by the tiny hairs in it’s leaves will remove wrinkles! It’s very hardy, thrives in Maine’s climate, and will grow in the shade or partial sun. The tiny flower clusters are chartreuse, very appealing.

These photos are gorgeous!! I’m roaming the web because I am new to this plant and I have 3 I’ve been told would be ok in a large container on my dappled sun balcony. Mine have green, not brown stems like yours. I hope the container’s ok! I’m in central PA where the weather’s a lot like Maine’s due to our altitude. Brrrr!! But gorgeous in summer. Any thoughts you may have on container gardening of this plant would be appreciated. If you haven’t that type of experience, I just want to thank you again for posting your exquisite photos. Ah, 2 b in ME!!
So glad you like the site!
Lady’s Mantle is pretty hardy and seems to grow in many conditions. I have it in both shade and sun. But not in containers, so I don’t have info on that as yet. The brown stems in the photo are last year’s dead growth. These leaves are coming up through them. So you most likely have the same plant.
I also have a dwarf variety.
I was so glad to have found this website, I have a school report for which plant I am, and I chose the Lady’s Mantle. I love the pictures, they are beautiful and lovely. I would love to have some Lady’s Mantle plants of my own but it’s too hot down here in S. IN! Tempatures have reached over 100F!!Thanks for the pictures!
