You can get there from here.

DeLorme Maine Atlas

“You can’t get there from here,” the Maine farmer told the tourists when they asked for directions. If they’d had one of these they wouldn’t have had to ask.

In the 1970s, after returning from Vietnam, and spending time in the Maine woods, David DeLorme found he just ‘couldn’t get there from here.’ The map he was using just wasn’t doing it’s job. So he made a better map.

The detail found in his initial printing of 10,000 copies quickly made the very easy to use Maine Atlas & Gazetteer an instant hit. There was little left out — every trail, road, stream, river and body of water were included. It’s been meticulously updated ever since.

The company eventually published a map for each of the United States and lead the way into navigating with digits, and those digits are now global.

You can now ‘get there’ from just about anywhere.
